I was going to write a review, but then I got distra- hey, what's that over there?

Edit 03/01/2011:

You know what most romantic comedies are missing?  A brain, sure.  Good writing, most definitely.  But most of all, most romantic comedies are missing a reenactment of the “Time of My Life” scene from Dirty Dancing.  Until now.

Alex, (ROMAIN DURIS, The Beat My Heart Skipped, The Apartment) and his sister Melanie (JULIE FERRIER, Micmacs) are professional relationship-breaker-uperers.  They save women trapped in loveless and destructive relationships, by restoring self-esteem and faith.  They have a strict code and routine that includes no sleeping with the target and only breaking up loveless relationships.  That is, until the debt collectors come calling and they are offered big bucks to break up happy couple Juliette (VANESSA PARADIS, Girl on the Bridge) and Jonathon (ANDREW LINCOLN, This Life, Made in Dagenham).  Then ethics be damned.

The plot is completely ridiculous, but everyone keeps a straight face, so it works.  Somehow, too, it seems less ridiculous because it’s in French.  Maybe it’s just that things are inherently better with a French accent?  The Dirty Dancing re-enactment didn’t hurt either.
