Before this film I could have written what I know about BILL HICKS on a postage stamp. I wasn’t even familiar with his comedy. Now I can tell you he’s fascinating, funny, ambitious, troubled and dead.
Filmmakers MATT HARLOCK and PAUL THOMAS animate photos and use archive footage to make Hicks central to a film that he is not in. It’s an inventive approach that sits well with the tone and content of the story. This well made doco (both visually and biographically) satisfies both the die-hard Bill Hicks fan and those – like me – who knew very little about him.
